Our Core Values

The Education and Technology Center offers literacy, adult basic education, family literacy and workforce development.

Literacy and Adult Basic Education (ABE)

For students who are not quite ready for the GED exam, or those students in need of extra help in reading or math, the YMCA offers courses in Adult Basic Education. Classes cover basic mathematics to algebra and geometry. Students can learn to write better and read more proficiently. Classes are offered during the day and in the evening.

Workforce Development

The YMCA provides customized workforce assessment and training in collaboration with employers for basic skills and other staff development.

Family Literacy

Family Literacy is a four component program which embraces the theme of Parents and Children working together to achieve common goals. These components are:

Adult Education - Classes are held weekly.  The curriculum ranges from adult basic education issues and instruction to GED preparation.  The needs of the
group determine class level and content.

Parent Group - Each parent will have a forum to voice concerns, explore
answers to life issues and problem solve.

Early Childhood Education - Children are enrolled in an educational program
that supports and promotes growth and development.

PACT - (Parents and Children Together) Parents and children interact in child-directed, constructive play.  Parents examine the value of quality playtime and the associated skill development.
